2021 Through the lens of Lien Lamberts

The annual airshow at Aeroclub Sanicole is located close to Kleine Brogel Airbase. The airbase always tries to organize a spottersday and this year was no different. Seen here is F-16C arriving at Kleine Brogel after its display at Sanicole on the Saturday.

Sadly this particular F-16 had a mishap later in the year.

On the Monday after the Sanicole airshow another spottersday was organized at Kleine Brogel so we could capture the departing aircraft.

Shown here are the German Air Force Eurofighter Typhoons that just started taxiing towards the runway.

These guys did an awesome departure as can be seen in the selection of other members.

The 31 squadrons’ special painted F-16 “the X-tiger” for 2021 photographed together with the new tower at KB. Picture is also taken on the spottersday on Monday after the Sanicole Airshow.

Every person wants to search for the pot of gold when they see a rainbow. This time I found even something better than a pot of gold when I saw a rainbow. This picture was taken after the spottersday that was organized for the SAR-meet that was held at Koksijde/Coxyde in September.

Another shot of the German Navy Sea King Mk.41 that participated at the 2021 SAR-meet. This picture is taken in the early hours on the departure day when a beautiful sunrise gave us a nice background.

One of the last times a Belgian Air Force C-130 landed at Kleine Brogel. CH-01 arriving at Kleine Brogel at the “Burenkijkdag” to participate as a static display aircraft during the spottersdays for the Sanicole airshow/ XTM.

The Red Arrows displaying during the Sanicole Sunset Airshow that took place on Friday the 10th of September.

Sea King RS02 (OO-SEE) and RS04 (OO-KNG) flew from their former homebase Koksijde towards their new homebase Historic Helicopters in England. Historic Helicopters bought these 2 Sea Kings to preserve them exactly where they belong, in the air. This picture was taken when they departed for good from Koksijde which was an emotional moment for me.

The initiative that led to Historic Helicopters to buy these former Belgian Air Force rescue helicopters was made possible thanks to Brecht VDC, a former Sea King Mk.48 mechanic.

Ending my top 10 selection from 2021 I do with this mirror pass picture from the Swiss Air Forece aerobatic team Patrouille Suisse. This picture is taken at the Sanicole Sunset show on Friday. Earlier that day the team performed a flypast above the hospital in Pelt to thank the healthcare staff for all the hard work they have done and continue to do in this difficult year. A big thank you to the team for doing this!
