Bronco Nightshoot 2017
On Sunday March 19th the Bronco Demo Team organized its annual Fan Day at its homebase of Wevelgem, Belgium. During this event the aim is bring together the Rockwell OV10 Bronco friends and family members of the crew.
Since a few years the Bronco Demo Team decorates its demo aircraft in a special livery to celebrate a specific event. This year the aircraft will bring with Poppies from Flanders’ Fields to airshows all over Europa in order to support a message of peace and to remember those who brought the ultimate sacrifice during World War One 100 years ago. The Fan Day also was an opportunity to see the aircraft in the Bronco Demo Team. Currently they are busy restoring a second Bronco, registered G-BZGL (formerly 99+26 of the Luftwaffe). In late 2015 this aircraft made a first flight from Duxford, after being grounded for 15 years, and was ferried to Wevelgem. Another aircraft visible in the hanger was De Havilland of Canada DHC1 Chipmunk T.10, WG321 (G-DHCC).
This years Fan Day was organized in collaboration with Rate One the new magazine covering recreational aviation aimed at pilots, buyers and everybody else who is interested in aviation. In collaboration with a local Jaguar/Land Rover distributor they organized a night shoot with the OV10B Bronco ‘99+18’ (G-ONAA), which resulted in some nice shots from this unique aircraft.
Hopefully the Bronco Demo Team organizes a next Fan Day early next year, Low Approach Aviation Photography will certainly try to be there again.
